Apart from being a figurehead who carries the can when someone or some operation fucks up what does the commissioner actually do?
There are various different borough and strategic commamders who oversee most operations who i guess report to her but apart from that its all politics and PR.
Half the old bill on the streets these days are simply not up to it both physically or mentally.
Sending a 5 ft 2 & 7 stone copper together with an even smaller wpc in a rainbow embossed patrol car to a pub fight doesn't really show much of a presence

This is an odd one for Labour
On the one hand you have Khan holding Dick (oh err) to account for all that happens on her watch as head of met police.
On the other hand you have Labour up in arms because Johnson dared to suggest that Starmer should be held to account for all that happened on his watch when director of public prosecutions.
Either way, Dick could have left for her incompetence on handling crime but has left due to Khan not believing she is woke enough.
I’d be interested to know what they had on her because she was adamant she would not resign. I wonder if that level deal making / blackmail goes against the fight against old structures that khan pretends to be the cheerleader for.
